Fashion legend Pierre Cardin staged a spectacular spring/summer fashion show in the Gobi Dessert. The 85 year-old designer put on an impressive and colourful display of his space age inspired designs. For a few magic moments it appeared as if beautiful seductive aliens had taken over the spacious landscape that once made up the fabled Silk Road enabling trade between the East and West. Tall exotic Asian models roamed the orange hued plain with some on camelback in colourful futuristic outfits.
Though widely attended by a local audience Cardin forgot to invite the international media so word of the opulent event which took place on October 20, 2007 is only now beginning to immerge. WWD compared it to Fendi’s recent milestone of an extravagant fashion show which took place at the Great Wall of China
