Bloomingdale's announced that a memorial service in memory of Kal Ruttenstein will be held at 11 a.m on January 11 at Carnegie Hall. The death of Bloomingdale's Senior Vice President of Fashion Direction on December 8th rocked the fashion world.
Kal held the position for almost three decades. He will always be remembered as a unique and important fashion force. Among the designers whose careers Ruttenstein helped kick start are Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Isaac Mizrahi, Zac Posen, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and Marc Jacobs. |

Paris Hilton topped the list of the world's worse dog owner. The online poll was conducted jointly by New York Dog and Hollywood Dog magazines.
Editor Leslie Padgett was quoted as saying: "Our readers felt Ms Hilton's dog-parenting skills left a lot to be desired. First she loses Tinkerbell, then she ditches her dog for a cuter dog, then replaces that dog with a ferret, then a Kinkajou monkey, and then, I gather, a goat." The same poll named singer Joss Stone as the best dog owner. |

A disturbing study by British researchers at the University of Bath claims that young girls get a kick out of torturing their Barbie Dolls on a regular basis.
What many young female subjects interviewed saw as legitimate play would be considered torture by a war crimes tribunal in The Hague! The types of mutilations reported were varied and creative. They included removing hair, decapitation, burning, breaking and even microwaving.
In a statement Mattel U.K said that contrary to the sensational spin put on the study's findings most little girls are not Dominatrix in training. Those that seemed to enjoy destroying their dolls were a small minority. With almost 100 million dolls sold last year Barbie is the number one selling doll in the world. |

Online shopping revenues continued to grow again this holiday shopping season. Leading the surge were luxury goods.
Visits to jewelry and luxury sites increased by 39 percent from October to November. Coach.com alone received 2.71 million uniques, while jewelry seller Zales.com garnered 1.72 million unique visitors. |

Ralph Destino, the former chairman of Cartier Inc. was named head of the Gemological Institute of America.
Destino brings much needed credibility to the organization after it was rocked by scandal. The institute that certifies 90 percent of all precious stones has since adopted a zero tolerance policy. The GIA reported names of diamond dealers it suspects of violating the GIA's code of ethics to law enforcement officials. |
