The surprise announcement that Boy George will be closing London Fashion Week with his
B-Rude collection has left many people baffled.

There were more established and talented designers such as Julien Macdonald, John Rocha and Paul Smith to choose from. George's unsophisticated collection which features items such as novelty T-shirts and latex underwear for men has been panned in the press. After his début show during New York Fashion Week last year George was arrested a few days later when he called police to his home after a male prostitute he hired stole valuables.

The trick had split but the men in blue found cocaine instead. Ironically as the New York shows kicked off this season George appeared in court to answer to drug charges.

Many are concerned that the choice of Boy George underscores how small the once vibrant London Fashion scene has become.

The familiar line of BCBG MaxAzria has officially separated into two distinct labels. MaxAzria, the designer and chief executive decided to showcase only his upscale MaxAzria Collection for fall/winter 2006.

"With significantly higher price points, this line is very exclusive and allows me to be much more creative with design. Officially changing the name represents a significant and exciting step for us in the process of the lines' evolution." Azria told Women's Wear Daily. BCBG will continue on as the company's more affordable selection.

The diet and food industries have been thrown into panic mode again after a series of new studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that a low-fat diet does not appear to reduce the risk of breast and colorectal cancer or heart disease in older women.

The study which followed 50,000 women found that those who reduced their fat intake had the same rates of cancer as those who ate whatever they pleased. The impact of the new studies are potentially more damaging to the food and diet community than the recent low-carb meltdown.

Janet Jackson is said to have gained between 20 to 30 pounds since her Super Bowl appearance two years ago.

Virgin Records is refusing to release her new album unless she sheds her bulk in time to promote it. Her last album, Damita Jo, was a flop.

Speculation for her weight gain have variety from packing extra pounds for a movie role to too much relaxation, to a serious depression about turning 40 this spring.
