A Florence court found Roberto Cavalli guilty of tax evasion and sentenced him to 14 months in prison.

The case has dragged on since 2002 when Cavalli was accused of fraudulently claiming personal costs for his home as business expenses.

His lawyers will launch an immediate appeal. However it is unlikely that the designer will actually spend any time in jail.
