...New York

A chance meeting between Axl Rose and Tommy Hilfiger at a New York nightclub came to blows. The dueling duo were at The Plumm Spot to celebrate actress Rosario Dawson's 27th birthday.
According to eye witness accounts the fisticuffs erupted when Rose, 44 moved Hilfiger's girlfriend's drink. The 55 year-old designer just lost it and started to slap the Guns N Roses singer and would not let up. The room was packed with horrified but amused celebrities that included Lenny Kravitz, Mickey Rourke, Kid Rock, Peter Beard, Molly Simms, Wentworth Miller, Ann Dexter Jones, Lydia Hearst and Damon Dash.
Some people blamed Rose while others blamed Hilfiger for causing the altercation. There are several theories but few facts about what really happened. Hilfiger eventually left the club. The next morning there was a front page photo of Hilfiger in The New York Post in a karate stance looking as if he was challenging Rose to go at it.

...Prague

In an interview with Radio Prague while in the Czech capital for a retrospective of her work, Vivienne Westwood did not have kind words to say about contemporary women.
The creator of the 1970's British punk fashion explained,
“I think the trouble is that people want to be sexy, and they want to be sexy for absolutely everybody, from the construction worker to the bank manager. I don't want to be sexy to everybody, not at all. There's a whole load of people I'm not interested in attracting”.

The reaction to Heather Mill's and Paul McCartney's separation in the fashion world is mostly one of relief. For one fashion designer and Paul's daughter Stella McCartney has always been rumored to never be very fond of the 37 year-old former model.
Mills managed to get on a lot of people's nerves for her aggressive anti-fur antics. She often threatened to make the lives of fur wearing celebrities miserable. In the past she loudly protested outside J.Lo's New York offices and talking trash about Naomi Campbell for not giving up fur.
One of the reasons cited in newspaper reports concerning the Beatle couple's split is that Sir Paul was feeling used and embarrassed by the spectacles Mills was always trying to involve him in against his better judgment. The latest was last month's protest on the ice flows off Newfoundland against the seal hunt. That only resulted in the Canadian Government defiantly increasing the quota and the pair almost getting run out of town by the locals.

In an unusual move for an aspiring actor Elizabeth Jagger decided last month to pullout of a tasty screen role in Sophia Coppola's much talked about film Marie Antoinette.
She realized she was not ready. Jagger is said to have at first relentlessly lobbied Coppola for the opportunity but after it was offered to her she came down with a bad case of stage fright. Instead she flew to Los Angeles and enrolled in acting lessons. The film stars Kirsten Dunst in the tile role.

...Paris

L'Oréal  Paris is “shocked, indignant and saddened" by allegations of racism brought against the company in a Paris court last week by SOS Racisme, a French antiracism association.
It claims that in a fax sent out in 2000 to a temporary employment agency L'Oréal requested candidates classed as BBR which stands for "bleu blanc rouge”. In other words non-whites need not apply.
The cosmetic giant was looking for demonstrators for its Garnier's Fructis brand. A L'Oréal spokesperson said that the company was not aware of the request and that it involves poor judgment on the part of only one person.

...Milan

Runway models, photographers and stylists in the Italian fashion capital went on a one day strike to protest against unfair practices by some modeling agencies.
Unlike other cities the industry is unregulated and there are no rules or standard business practices. Foreign agencies and fashion show producers routinely take advantage of the uncontrolled environment Milan's nine major modeling agencies took part in the work action. They want visiting models at the very least to require work visas and all modeling agencies to be registered. The situation is dire. In the 1980's the modeling business was thriving but now it is struggling to survive.
