Diane Von Furstenberg was named President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America just beating out fellow designer Joseph Abboud.
She replaces Stan Herman who filled the post for the last 15 years. The CFDA constitution has now been changed to limit the President's term to only 2 years.
After the announcement DVF was chauffeured to the CFDA's Broadway headquarters in her green Bentley to make her inaugural speech.
"I want to really work on all the benefits this membership gives," she said. The 59 year old Belgium born DVF is married to American media mogul Barry Diller.

In what is being called The Curse of The Devil Wears Prada, the stocks of the parent companies of paid product placements in the box office blockbuster have taken a bounding since the film was first released.
These include costly cameo appearances by Calvin Klein, Tiffany & Co., Starbucks. Smith & Wollensky and Barnes & Noble.
"The share prices of brands that got placement in the movie have almost all slumped more than the wider stock market in recent weeks -- possibly reflecting a new caution about discretionary spending among American shoppers.” Reuters reported.

Karl Lagerfeld is still infatuated by Lindsay Lohan. In a recent Extra interview the German uberdesigner revealed his true gushing feelings. “[When] you see her in a crowd, you see only her face," he said of Lohan. "She has what Elizabeth Taylor had, something very special, something you can't buy, can't learn. Something inborn.”
It is very much an open secret that if Lagerfeld had his way Lohan would be the next face of Chanel.

Last week Campbell trashed the Prince's yacht to the tune of over 50,000 dollars when it was moored off the Italian Riviera. Across the pond, the scrappy runway Diva has no less than 3 separate assault related cases before Manhattan courts.

Diamond Cartel De Beers has prepared a $15 million dollar war chest to counter any damaging impact on its precious stone sales. The World Diamond Council has appealed to the film producers to rewrite the ending to mention the implementation of a certification process to ban the controversial gems.

Former sex kitten and French icon Brigitte Bardot wants to move to Sweden in protest of France's refusal to adapt a Swedish resolution to improve the living conditions of minks being bred for the fur industry.
The reclusive 71 year-old, who definitely shows her age, runs a foundation to protect animals. She was quoted as saying,
"Perhaps I will leave France to finish my days in Sweden, since today, I feel much closer to Swedish sensitivity than to the French insensitivity."
