David Beckham’s announcement that he will leave the Real Madrid soccer team and relocate to Los Angeles is expected to bring a new age of glamour to the hype capital of the world.
The minute David and Victoria touchdown in L.A. they will be the new it couple and steal the spotlight away from native stars like Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes as well as Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.  
Victoria Beckham was already swarmed by Paparazzi when she arrived to do some house hunting. Her presence should have an immediate impact on the west coast fashion scene and perhaps finally deliver the credibility it desperately needs.
At 31 David Beckham’s best soccer days are seen as being behind him, so it is considered to be a smart move to max-out on his celebrity status.
Beckham signed a 5 year $250 million dollar contract, which works out to a million dollars a week, with the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team.
Exposure to a new American public is bound to bring a gazillion dollars worth of new endorsements to the already fabulously wealthy couple.

Sex, violence, sacrilege, avarice, vanity, nudity, self indulgence ...it is business as usual for Dolce & Gabbana in a controversial pictorial layout in W Magazine.
Inspired by Tom Ford’s Vanity Fair nude issue Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce were eager for the opportunity to exhibit their kinky side.
Ford’s quirky project, which was obsessed with celebrity nudity, seems tame compared to the D&G version. The 20 page spread features Dolce confessing to a Pope-like figure while a nude man watches on, Gabanna opening the fly of a male model as well as a shot of him in black bikini underwear and high heels.
The scenes were shot by photographer Steven Meisel.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America released its guidelines in response to calls for a worldwide ban on skinny models. The initiative was immediately called ineffective and unenforceable by critics who want to see a real plan of action put into place.
According to the CFDA’s recommendations models must be at least 16 years old to appear on the runway and 18 for catalogue work. There was a call to educate the industry concerning eating disorders and a requirement for models identified with symptoms of weight problems to receive professional help. Healthy food should also be available at fashion events.

The original Goth girl, actress Yvonne De Carlo who played Lily Munster, in the slap stick horror spoof the Munsters, was called back to the netherworld. She died of natural causes in Los Angeles at the age of 84.
Although the show only ran for 2 seasons from 1964-66 her role left an indelible mark on the minds of many young women. Her unique style would inspire Goth couture decades later.
De Carlo played a glamorous curvy vamp always draped in a long black evening gown. A dramatic gray streak graced her waist length black hair. With her style and elegant presence she always remained dignified in the company of an otherwise cast of likeable kooks and weirdoes. De Carlo also had a virtuous side to her acting and played Mosses wife in the The Ten Commandments opposite Charlton Heston.

Naomi Campbell apparently fired her long time manger in an effort to distance herself from her past. Carole White was the supermodel’s business agent for 15 years.
Campbell stayed low for much of 2006 and was absent from all the major fashion weeks in recent months. It is believed she was in rehab.
Speculation is that the 36 year-old is now planning a huge comeback for 2007 and will sign up with new Hollywood type management to manage her image makeover.

Christina Aguilera’s announcement that she is teaming up with Procter and Gamble Prestige Products to create her own signature scent is bound to put the squeeze on the already crowded counter space of celebrity perfumes.
The yet to be named fragrance will debut towards the end of the year. No further details were given.
