Dior chose to thank Hedi Slimane for reviving the brand and making it the hottest men's wear label on the planet by sacking him.
In a drama very similar to when Tom Ford was getting too big for his bosses at Gucci and was unceremoniously relieved of his duties without warning, Slimane was just proving too difficult and independent for the higher ups at the legacy fashion house.
Negotiations to renew his contract were going into a second year and he recently launched his own label. To break the impasse Dior felt the only solution was replace Slimane with his long time assistant Belgian Chris van Assche effective immediately.
It was Slamine's vision several years ago that began the current trend for super tight suits for men. Karl Lagerfeld lost over 90 pounds so that he could fit into Slamine's clothes and never missed an opportunity to praise the maverick menswear designer.
Slamine was Artistic Director for Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Homme before joining Dior and was named International Designer of the Year in 2002 by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Karl Lagerfeld is to be honoured for his photographic skills at the upcoming International Center of Photography's Infinity Awards in New York.
The famous designer will receive the ICP Trustees Award in May for his pioneering contributions to the use of photographic images throughout his career and as a practising photographer, publisher of photography books . The Infinity Awards are considered to be the premier International photography awards.
Sceptics however feel that the only reason the uber-designer was chosen was that the organizers needed a celebrity name to help sell the 1,000 dollar a pop tickets to the event.

Kate Moss has decided on Canadian model Irina Lazareanu as the image she wants to project for her new Top Shop collection that is set to debut in May.
Moss feels that the Romanian born Lazareanu represents the perfect Rock & Roll attitude she is trying to get across.
“She really felt that Irina embodies the feel of her TopShop range - her porcelain skin, her big eyes under her thick Sixties fringe - it was a look Kate was impressed with”, a spokesperson said.

Kate was the one who discovered Lazareanu when she was the drummer in Babyshambles, her bad boy boyfriend Pete Doherty's band and featured her in British Vogue when she was asked to be a guest editor.
Since then Lazareanu has starred in campaigns for Chanel, Burberry and Hugo Boss as well as being on many magazine covers. The collection will be available in 20 countries.

The female version of Viagra was unveiled this week with the goal of increasing the sex drive of women around the world. Intrinsa was developed by Procter & Gamble and comes in the form of a patch.
It is aimed at post menopausal women and is only available in some European countries. Critics of the patch feel that it will put women's sex drive into overdrive and their sense of morality into a nosedive. About 20 similar type products are currently in development.

Numerous sources have reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is about to marry his supermodel girlfriend Bar Rafaeli as early as this June.
The couple began dating soon after DiCaprio broke up with former girlfriend Brazilian catwalk phenomenon Gisele Bundchen and have been romantically linked for about 15 months.
The duo recently visited Rafaeli's parents in Israel and soon after the Titanic Star is said to have decided to propose.

Donatella Versace is so angry over reports in the media that her 20-year-old daughter Allegra was on the verge of death and hospitalized after years of battling anorexia that she is threatening to sue a number of publications over the erroneous allegations.
While Dontella does not deny her daughter suffers from the psychological disorder, and that the family is concerned about her condition, she insists the heir to the Versace fortune is doing well and receiving adequate treatment a home.

"Allegra is not at present staying in any hospital, she is living in her private residence and her condition does not cause particular concerns”.
