The proposed ban on super skinny models seems to be going nowhere. The best of intentions appears to have collided with reality and reality won.

Size zero models continue to dominate magazine pages and runways around the world. Australian Fashion Week which concluded last week closed among a terrible row involving too many skeletal girls on the catwalk. The Council of Fashion Designers of America issued guidelines last fall that were considered toothless and unenforceable by many.

WWD recently ran an in-depth analysis of the legal ramifications of banning models on the basis of weight and concluded that fair employment regulations would ultimately override any mandatory exclusion.

Naomi Campbell has gone public with her decision to give up alcohol. The 36 year-old was rumoured to have spent much of last year in rehab though details remain sketchy.  The supermodel has had a long and well documented history of substance abuse.

Campbell claims to be a new person and everything is far better and more fun without a drink. Gone are her famous violent outbursts that landed her on the wrong side of the law on 2 continents on numerous occasions.  She was quoted as saying, “I have chosen not to drink today in my life because I find that I’m allergic to alcohol”.
