Life will no longer be a Blass for Michael Vollbracht. He confirmed that he has resigned as Creative Director for Bill Blass after a stormy four year tenure.

Vollbracht said that it is unlikely that he will continue to work in fashion. He is also an accomplished painter and illustrator.
His artwork is featured in the private collections of former President Gerald Ford, Diane von Furstenberg and Elizabeth Taylor, among others.
Vollbracht was choosen to work on Bill Blass: An American Designer, and the retrospective exhibition of Blass' career at Indiana University's art museum. This would eventually lead to his becoming the creative director for Bill Blass.

Patrick Robinson The Gap's great hope

In an effort to reverse declining  retail sales GAP announced that it has signed Patrick Robinson to oversee all aspects of design for its women's and men's apparel, accessories and intimates lines in North America.

The 40 year-old has been the artistic director for Paco Rabanne in Paris since 2005. The Gap desperately needs a change in direction if it wants to reverse the continual loses it has suffered for the last 3 years. Net income fell by 25% in the last quarter alone.
